Cash handouts: Pakatan does it too, says MCA

MCA has accused Pakatan Rakyat for practising double standards by criticising cash handouts in the federal government's budget, but adopting the same strategies in states which they govern.
In a statement today, MCA deputy publicity chief Loh Seng Kok (

"However, Pua opts to forget that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, also from DAP, dishes out money as well.
"Although Pua insists that DAP people orientated, he describes the financial aid from BN government as ‘election candies'. These actions will confuse the public.
"As both sides perform the same role, why are Pakatan's actions allowed, but BN's actions mocked?" asked Loh.
Anwar indirectly criticising DAP
Loh also accuses PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim of doublespeak, criticising the cash handouts in Budget 2012, but praising the Penang government for its cash handouts.
"Anwar's criticisms are impractical and do not solve problems. On the other hand, he praises the tiny amounts of cash which the DAP-led Penang state government gives for new-born babies, single parents and senior citizens.
"With one finger flailing BN's policies, Anwar's four other fingers likewise condemn DAP indirectly," said Loh.
Pakatan had criticised the many one-off cash handouts promised in Budget 2012, which they said was obviously geared towards the coming general election.
On the contrary, Pakatan has defended their practice of providing cash handouts for the disadvantaged communities because it was done annually and was a form of sharing the state's wealth.
