The National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) has pledged that it will not do anything to jeopardise the authorities’ investigation on it, says its chief executive officer Wan Shahinur Izran Mohamad Salleh.

Tweeting to Malaysiakini , he promised to brief the media later.

“There is a police investigation going on. We are fully cooperating... We will not do anything to jeopardise the investigation.

“(We will provide) more in-depth discussions with the media when the time comes for the same reason,” he assured when asked  whether the company is holding its extraordinary general meeting this week.

He however, does not want to respond to claims of the EGM being scheduled for this week.

NONE Today PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli ( left in photo ) had urged the government to freeze NFC’s accounts and assets following fears it may restructure itself and thereby hamper police investigations into the company.

It was reported that Rafizi has obtained information that the NFC would be holding an EGM and a meeting of board members sometime this week.

“I understand that among the agenda items to be discussed is the takeover of the National Meat and Livestock Corporation, a company owned by Women and Family Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s family.

“NFC is a government-linked company (GLC) through a special share owned by the Finance Ministry.

“I believe this hurried action to call the meeting of NFC directors and the EGM may have an improper intention and may hamper on-going investigations by the authorities,” Rafizi said during a press conference today.

Shahrizat to go on leave

Today, it was also reported that Shahrizat has taken three weeks leave beginning today to facilitate investigations.

In a statement, Shahrizat said she had applied for leave to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

“I hope the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be able to undertake the investigation to determine whether I was associated or not with any of the decisions made by the government on the NFC, in which my husband Mohammad Salleh Ismail is the executive chairperson,” she had said.

It was reported that the NFC, which is supposed to be involved in the cattle business had purchased a luxury condominium in Bangsar.

It was also alleged that NFC funds were used to purchase a Mercedes and two plots of land in Putrajaya, where more than RM3 million was transferred to finance the deal.

The NFC project was described “as a mess” in the Auditor-General’s Report, following the making of questionable purchases and the Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Inc having taken back 3,000 acres of the 5,000 acres set aside for the project.
