A deviant sect founded by Ariffin Mohamad (Ayah Pin) called the Sky Kingdom is believed to have been revived at Kumpung Batu 13 in Hulu Besut, Terengganu.
According to
Berita Harian
, suspicions have been raised due to the population growth in the area and the fact that Ayah Pin (

) was spotted returning there “fortnightly or once a month to meet his followers”.
The Malay daily quoted villagers as saying Ayah Pin was also spotted visiting the graves of his first wife and son-in-law there.
Berita Harian also said the village was “heavily guarded” by youths who are believed to be followers of the sect.
However, the youths did not allow the daily’s reporters to take any pictures, saying that they needed to seek permission from Kak Yah (Ayah Pin’s fourth wife, Nik Kamariah Nik Par).
Half-paralysed after a stroke
According to Ayah Pin’s brother Abdul Rahman, the cult leader who declared himself “God”, had lost his “powers” after suffering a stroke one month ago.
He is believed to have regularly returned to his hometown in Bachok to receive treatment in the form of traditional massages.
Ayah Pin is reported to be paralysed on the right side of his body and needs to be assisted to walk.
Meanwhile, the Terengganu Islamic Affairs Council (JHEAT) said it was constantly monitoring Kampung Batu 13 in Hulu Besut to make sure that the Sky Kingdom is not revived.
“The village development and security committee (JKKK) has been instructed to monitor and take stern action if they believe the cult is being revived,” JHEAT commissioner Mohd Rozali Salleh is quoted by the daily as saying.
Rozali also said the population growth in Kampung Batu 13 was also due to migration by people from outside the state and not due to the Sky Kingdom.
