Another individual identified as an “Umno agent” trying to bribe opposition members of parliament to cross over has denied the claim, but acknowledged that he might be the man in the video shown by Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad.

Although he rebutted having a hand in enticing MPs to defect, Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president and former PKR Youth exco member Azwanddin Hamzah said that he has come across plenty of unhappy Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

azwanddin hamzah Khalid had alleged that Azwanddin ( right ) and former Kedah Kita chief Zamil Ibrahim were agents for the BN in buying over opposition MPs, allegedly featured in a video of the attempt recorded one year ago.       

Khalid had accused Azwanddin of being the “lead negotiator” in the three-hour long footage which shows alleged attempt to buy over a PKR MP.

“I do not deny that I may be the person in the video. But before anything else, I want Khalid to reveal to everyone the conversation he  had with me and former PKR member and Kita member Zamil at a restaurant in Kajang where he complained about PAS and PKR. Tell us all what you told me to tell BN,” said Azwanddin as quoted by news portal Free Malaysia Today .

According to him, Khalid had expressed his dissatisfaction not too long ago, and at the meeting complained about his suspension from the party in 2010 for urging then-Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali to resign.

“I met him then as a friend so I would not reveal more as I’m not a backstabbing type. However, I admit he never mentioned that he wanted to jump ship,” he said.

He added that even when disgruntled Pakatan leaders were “interested” in crossing over, BN was not keen on accepting them.  

“BN does not want those who want money but are not principled. I won’t tell which BN leader I spoke to but they (BN leaders) have told me that if there are those who want to join BN with the intention of getting money, then forget it,” Azwanddin had said.

Khalid, however, rejected Azwanddin’s assertion, describing it as a “tactic” to ensure the former “backs down” from divulging even more.

The MP also denied having met Azwanddin and Zamil during his suspension and that the allegation had simply increased his popularity with the masses.

Earlier this month, Khalid played a four-minute audio recording, accompanied by grainy still pictures from the full three-hour video, of the purported buy-out to reporters.
