The mother of a Year One girl allegedly molested by their policeman neighbour told the Sessions Court yesterday she was shocked to learn that the accused would do such a thing to her daughter after having known him for so many years.

“My daughter complained of pain in her private parts before telling me that the accused had molested her,” said the food seller.

“I was shocked.”

She was testifying against Cpl Mohd Aziri Sahid, 54, who is accused of molesting the girl outside the police barracks between May 28 and June 12 last year.

The trial comes just a week after three policemen were charged with raping an Indonesian restaurant worker in Prai.

Another witness also testified against Mohd Aziri’s “unusual behaviour” towards the girl.

“I had seen the accused tightly hugging the child’s waist and thought it was unusual behaviour,” said the witness. “I told the girl’s mother after noticing this.”

Mohd Aziri faces a maximum jail term of 20 years and/or whipping.

Judge Zanol Rashid Hussain fixed Jan 11 for the hearing to continue.
