As initial DNA results from the Chemistry Department today confirmed the decomposed body of a six-year-old boy found in Port Klang on Jan 24, was that of William Yau Zhen Zhong, the police are also investigating whether he was a victim of abuse.

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Bin Ramli said a full report on the post-mortem which was conducted the following day, would be released in three weeks’ time.

The victim’s parents were on their way from Malacca to claim his remains from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, he told a media conference at the Subang Jaya police headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

On reports that Zhen Zhong could have been abused prior to his death, Yahaya said there were no injuries on the body, except for old scars which the boy’s parents had identified.

“Nevertheless, he said the police would investigate all angles, including whether Zhen Zhong was a victim of abuse,” he said, adding that the parents would be called again later, to have their statements recorded by the police.

He said, no report of abuse had been lodged in Subang Jaya, Shah Alam or Malacca, or that the deceased had received psychiatric treatment.

Yahaya said, so far, more than 30 individuals have had their statements recorded to facilitate investigations into Zhen Zhong’s death.

Zhen Zhong, the second child of Goh Ying Ying, 28, and Yau Kok Kang, 32, was reported missing on Jan 16, at Jalan Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights in Subang Jaya after alighting from the family car to look for his parents who had gone to an electrical shop.

On Jan 24, the decomposed body of a boy was recovered from the vicinity of the jetty in Kampung Sungai Sireh, Port Klang by fishermen about 6.30pm, and sent to the hospital.

However, in the post-mortem conducted on Jan 25, the hospital could not determine the exact cause of death because of the highly-decomposed state.

The same day, the victim’s parents confirmed that the body was that of their son, based on two scars at the back of his head and another on the forehead, besides the pants which William was wearing when he went missing.

Earlier, the case had also drawn the concern of Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who called on Malaysians to help search for the missing boy.

A special police team, in collaboration with the K9 Unit had also mounted an operation to look for the boy in the Putra Heights area, with the cooperation of Alam Flora.

Parents claim William's remains

Meanwhile in KLANG, Zhen Zhong’s parents claimed his remains from the hospital mortuary.

The couple appeared calm upon arrival at the hospital about 10.20am, before Goh was spotted crying when their child’s body was taken out, about an hour later.

Accompanied by her husband, Goh, who wore a black blouse and shorts, walked out of the mortuary, tightly hugging a doll, on which was inscribed Zhen Zhong’s name, and held a lit joss stick.

It is understood that the couple had also gone to the Kampung Sungai Sireh Jetty in Port Klang, where the boy’s decomposed body was discovered, to conduct a religious ceremony.
