PENANG The BN has denied that its supporters disrupted a DAP ceramah held in Gelugor on Wednesday night.

Penang BN chief Teng Chang Yeow said that an investigation showed that no BN component party was involved in the incident.

"It doesn't necessarily mean that when you wear a 1Malaysia T-shirt, you're automatically a BN supporter," he said.

"We gave out free 1Malaysia T-shirts to many people who have been coming to collect them daily."

A group of 50 mat rempits, clad in the blue 1Malaysia T-shirts and carrying 1Malaysia flags, had disrupted the ceramah about 10pm before the arrival of DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh.

The police were called in and the ceramah had to be cut short then.

One witness, Daphne Seow, expressed disappointment over the chaos.

"This is madness. I am disappointed as it was the first time that I was attending a ceramah and this had to happen," she said.

In addition, a photographer from a local Chinese daily had sustained injuries when he was punched by one of the motorcyclists while trying to photograph the incident.

NONE Teng has said that the state BN is still investigating who had been involved in the matter.

He said it was clear that the incident was "orchestrated by the DAP to sabotage BN".

The state BN chief stressed that BN had warned its supporters not to engage in any violent campaigning.

On another matter, Teng admitted to deliberately refusing to shake the hand of former Bukit Tengah BN coordinator A Mohan ( right ), who is contesting against him in Bukit Tengah as an Independent.

The former allies crossed path during a walkabout at the Juru night market in Bukit Tengah on Tuesday night.

Mohan has expressed disappointment and described Teng's action as being childish and ungentlemanly.
