The internal split in PAS over the ‘Black 505' rallies organised by Pakatan Rakyat continued to haunt the Islamic party when PAS dewan ulama chief Harun Taib reiterated that the party will not voluntarily hold nor participate in such rallies as it has accepted the results of the 13th general election.

NONE However, Harun ( right ) told China Press that the party will not stop PKR from holding protest rallies, nor instruct party members not to join the rallies.

He was responding to the announcement by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali on Monday that the coalition will hold another ‘Black 505' rally on June 15 in Kuala Lumpur to protest alleged electoral fraud in the 13th general election.

“I stick to the previous stance that PAS will not join such rallies. We have accepted the results of the 13th general election with an open heart.

“The dewan ulama will never join the 'Black 505' rallies organised by Pakatan on June 15. PAS will focus on the preparation for the next general election,” he was quoted as saying.

He said PAS did not object to PKR’s decision to hold rallies, adding that such rallies can be a channel to vent the anger against the election results.

“PAS accepted the election results under protest because much fraud occurred during the electoral process and the results could not convince the people,” he added.
