PAS leader withdraws 'objection' to 'Black 505' rally
PAS ulama chief Harun Taib will abide by the party’s decision to participate in Pakatan Rakyat’s ‘Black 505’ rally in Kuala Lumpur on June 15.
PAS ulama chief Harun Taib will abide by the party’s decision to participate in Pakatan Rakyat’s ‘Black 505’ rally in Kuala Lumpur on June 15.
He has clarified that his earlier statement - that PAS will not willingly hold or participate in such rallies - was his personal opinion.
Harun explained that his view would apply if the rally was intended to spark a revolution.
“I said that if the rally was to start a revolution, I would not agree. It conflicts with party policies. But if the rally is peaceful and there are ceramahs, that is fine. We are used to it,” he said when contacted yesterday.
“I abide by the party’s position. My previous decision was made before there was a party stance, so now it is my view to follow the party’s decision.”
The party unanimously agreed to join the rally at a monthly meeting of senior leaders, according to deputy president Mohamad Sabu.
The rally is to protest alleged fraud during the 13th general election concluded on May 5.
