The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is reviewing longer-term measures for Little India, taking into consideration the situation in the area over this weekend and the interests of all affected stakeholders.

Details will be announced in due course, the police said in their latest update over the cooling measures undertaken by the authorities.

For the period of last Saturday until early Monday, no incident was reported in Little India.

There was also no breach of the ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol, which were prohibited over the weekend of Dec 14-15, in the proclaimed areas of Little India under the Public Order (Preservation) Act.

The police said they stepped up their presence and deployed more officers on the ground at Little India over the weekend.

The officers, including those from the Special Operations Command, conducted more vehicular and foot patrols in the vicinity to prevent and deter public order incidents from occurring.

On Dec 8, an isolated incident erupted in Little India, arising from the unlawful action of an unruly mob reacting to a fatal traffic accident involving a 33-year old Indian national.
