Scomi Energy Services Bhd (formerly known as Scomi Marine Bhd) (SESB) has been awarded two Petronas contracts in Myanmar worth a combined RM90 million.
Scomi Energy Services Bhd (formerly known as Scomi Marine Bhd) (SESB) has been awarded two Petronas contracts in Myanmar worth a combined RM90 million.
The contracts are from Petronas Carigali Myanmar Inc (PCMI) and Petronas Carigali (Hong Kong) Ltd (PCML) for the provision of drilling fluids, solid control, well bore cleanout, drilling waste management equipment, materials and services, Scomi Group, the holding company at group level, said in a statement.
The contract awards are for a period of three years with work commencing in 2013.
SESB has commenced work with PCML in Dec 2013 while it expects work with PCMI to begin in July 2014.
“We are pleased to work together with Petronas once again in Myanmar. Back in 2004, we provided similar integrated services for its offshore drilling activities.
"We are also excited to be part of Petronas’ first onshore block in Myanmar and we are confident of our team and their ability to continuously deliver excellent products and service quality,” said SESB chief executive officer Shah Hakim Zain.
The contract wins are a result of intensified efforts to grow the business in the Eastern Hemisphere region, which is a focus area for SESB.
SESB has been in operations in Myanmar since 2003 and the team has been providing services to major clients such as Petronas, PTTEPI and Daewoo.
With these contract awards, SESB’s operations continue to grow and push the group’s oilfield services order book to RM5.1 billion.
