There is no written agreement between Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and PKR that he will vacate his post upon the request of the party.

Squashing speculation on this, Khalid said: "Agreement? There is no such thing as an agreement."

He said this when asked about speculation that he had to sign an agreement with the party that he will step aside upon request, as part of the "Kajang Move".

Khalid also denied a report in The Star that he wanted the Bukit Antarabangsa seat vacated, and not Kajang, to ensure that his rival Azmin Ali leaves the state assembly.

"Not at any stage (did I ask for that)," he told reporters today.

            

The Star had quoted unnamed insiders as claiming that Khalid will not budge as MB as he had wanted his rival, Azmin, and not Kajang incumbent Lee Chin Cheh, to vacate his seat.

The matter was also denied by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, who said that the report was not only "incorrect" but also unfair to Khalid as it painted him a schemer.

Lee had vacated his seat on Jan 27, triggering a by-election which will take place on March 23.

Anwar will contest for PKR, in a move which is likely to see him enter the state assembly to eventually succeed Khalid as MB.

However, both Khalid and Anwar concede that there is still the issue of whether the Selangor sultan will consent to PKR's candidate for a new MB.
