'Ex-judge moots yet another carrot to convert'

YOURSAY ‘Maybe our learned judge can give me a simple crash course on law.’

Ex-judge: Give converts special rights as Malays

WDA: Isn't it amazing that a person like former Court of Appeal judge Mohd Noor Abdullah once held a very high position in the judiciary?

Isn't it mind boggling that a person with such a mentality was entrusted with making judicial decisions that would affect a person's life?

Shouldn't the decision to convert to Islam be based purely on faith and love for the religion without any inducements? How would you stop atheist non-Muslims from faking conversion just to get a piece of the economic pie?

Mohd Noor, you are a shame not only to the judiciary and your religion, but to common sense too.

Zakaria Osman: It is so painful to live in this era with our pretentious politicians, including those in the judiciary, manipulating the mindset of poor vulnerable Malays and the less educated Indians, promising them the sky.

We will never be able to rewind to the era which was so beautiful, peaceful and caring. It is wishful thinking that the button can be reset. At the end of the day, money, power and greed rules Malaysia.

I remember when I was in school, my best friends were Indians and Chinese. We never talked of race. I remember drinking water straight from the tap together in the football ‘padang’ and playing ‘chop bola’.

We were all such great friends. I am old now but I cherish the friendship we had.

Patriot1: Maybe our learned judge can give me a simple crash course on law. I've always thought that race is always defined by birth and not by religion.

He seemed to suggest that by converting to Islam, a person assumes a race change. So what he means is there will be no more Indian Muslim, Chinese Muslim, etc, and all can be ‘special Malays’?

Does the bumiputera benefits comes as a package? If it does, where do I sign up? My God, the guardians of our judiciary are indeed a hilarious and an entertaining lot.

SpongeBob: Mohd Noor, are you inducing or bribing others races to convert so that they enjoy the Malay rights rather than the beauty of Muslim religion per se.

All the years of legal and judiciary experience has not made Mohd Noor a wise man. His moronic ideas and suggestions strongly confirms why the former appellate court judge was not hired by leading private organisations or GLCs (government-linked companies). Normally, a person with his standing is up for grabs by well-known organisations.

Senior Citizen: Now, this is becoming stranger by the day. Mohd Noor was the former court of Appeal president. This only confirms and proves the fact that our judges are made of idiots and semi-literates.

This judge who does not know the difference between race and religion. How many more judges are like him in our courts? Don’t they have any shame left?

Imagine a lawyer who has spent years in the university or a lawyer who has spent 40 years in legal service has to face a nincompoop like this in court. It’s a disgrace to humanity.

Donplaypuks: This shows how stupid some of our so-called top judges were/are and that had meitocracy been applied, they wouldn't hack it as clerks in law firms.

How can converting to another religion change one's DNA and turn one into an indigenous (bumiputera) native?

So if Indian Christians immigrants converted to Islam in Malaysia, they can become bumiputera overnight?

P Dev Anand Pillai: This is what happens when we have ex-judges as political spokesperson. We seem to have entered into a realm of complete uncertainties where the rule of law has no value.

So long as we have a judiciary that is more political as opposed to being a fair arbitrater and a guardian of the peoples’ liberties, statements like this will not be surprising.

So the bottom line is: Convert and all of us can be bumiputeras.

Tan Kim Keong: How on earth did this learned man reached this level of racism, bigotry and supremacism?

Then again what did history teach us about racism, bigotry and supremacism as propagated, promoted and institutionalised by the Third Reich? Be reminded that ruling members of the Third Reich were learned people too.

Let the rest of the world see how repugnant and repulsive such an ideology is. The governments of the 26 countries that are helping us find MH370 now have moral reasons to be peeved by such wanton display of racism, bigotry and supremacism.

Me: Once retired, it's always difficult to get the opportunities that makes one look learned and wise. This is the time for it, but Mohd Noor did not realise that his suggestion reflects shallow thinking bordering on senility.

Wira: I wonder what East Malaysian non-Muslim bumiputeras have to say about this? In Sarawak, the children of a native and a non-native couple do not even qualify for bumiputera status.
