The National Environment Agency (NEA) says the overall air quality in Singapore for the next 24 hours is expected to be in moderate range.

This is despite an alert from Indonesia’s disaster agency yesterday that haze could return to neighbouring Singapore and Malaysia.

The NEA said 86 hotspots were detected in Sumatra yesterday, compared to 143 on Tuesday, while the number of hotspots in Riau decreased to 58 yesterday from 98 on Tuesday.

The agency said Singapore experienced thundery showers early yesterday.     

As at 6pm yesterday, the 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index was in the moderate range at 48-57.

For today, the prevailing wind and thundery showers forecast in the morning are expected to keep the air quality in the moderate range.
