Umno MP Bung Moktar Radin has now trained his Twitter guns on DAP's Ramkarpal Singh, calling him "a big monkey".

This was after the MP for Bukit Gelugor, tweeted: "Is Bung Mokhtar (who is never taken seriously) really Bigfoot? You decide..."

Ramkarpal also posted a photograph of Bung together with an image supposedly of the mysterious creature.

He said his father, the late DAP chairperson Karpal Singh, had once referred to Bung as "Bigfoot".

"He's certainly living up to his reputation," he added.

The remarks prompted Bung to reply in his inimitable style. "I think you really a big monkey," he tweeted.

This drew a response from a user with the handle Abang Bro, who advised Bung against making such statements during the month of Ramadan.

"Tak baik Bung mengata kat bulan puasa ni. Bung puasa tak? (It is not good to say such things during fasting month, are you fasting?)," Abang Bro tweeted.

'Stand up, if you dare'

Six years ago, Bung had a verbal jousting match in Parliament with Karpal, who was then confined to a wheelchair following an accident.

When Karpal called him "Bigfoot", the Umno MP shot back, describing the DAP leader as "a big monkey".

Bung then told Karpal, who was paralysed from the waist down, to stand up and show respect to the speaker.

"Stand up, if you dare!" he shouted. His remark drew widespread condemnation and led to the disabled community staging a protest outside Parliament.

From being caught making lewd gestures on camera, making sexist remarks and a polygamous marriage, Bung is no stranger to controversy.

And his latest gaffe, which made international news, came in the form of hailing Adolf Hitler after Germany trounced Brazil in the FIFA World Cup semi-final.
