Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, a notable columnist among the right wing movement, has questioned PAS' adoption of democracy, which he said is a system for infidels.

In his column in Sinar Harian today, Ridhuan Tee said the tendency of certain PAS leaders to "worship" democracy threatened the powers of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

"What has happened to PAS? Since when PAS has subscribed to democracy?

"Was it not PAS, which in the past, said democracy is blasphemous and those who accept the system are infidels?" Ridhuan  Tee asked.

For an Islamic movement like PAS, he said, its Ulama Council ultimately triumphs democracy.

'Decision of the ulama supersedes democracy'

"It is true that the characteristics of democracy are also in Islam, but when it comes to making decisions, the decision of the ulama supersedes democracy.

"Only then can we Islamise democracy. Islam is at the top, democracy is below," Ridhuan Tee said.

He added that PAS members who do not comply with the Ulama Council should be expelled.

This same spirit, he said, should be applied in the ongoing Selangor menteri besar crisis.

He said PAS must take up the lead role in Pakatan Rakyat and not leave it to the "ultra-kiasu", referrring to DAP and PKR, which he said were against Islam.

Even though PAS had gained in electoral strength by being with Pakatan, Ridhuan Tee said, the Islamic party's success could not be measured by seats won in an election.

Instead, he said, PAS should not hold any grudge against Umno and instead focus on the interest of Islam.

"What is the point of winning many seats and denying the BN two-thirds majority (in Parliament) if Islam is not respected?

"It does not matter if one loses, so long as Islam is preserved," Ridhuan Tee added.
