The latest to join the PAS versus PKR bandwagon is the Islamic party's venerated spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
According to
New Straits Times
, he described PKR as a "spoilt brat" with regard to how the Anwar Ibrahim-helmed party is dealing with the Selangor menteri besar issue.
The influential cleric, who previously defended Anwar on many occasions, said he was disappointed with incumbent menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim being removed, adding that if he was in the latter's shoes, he would have taken the matter to court.
"It is an embarrassment. Why ask him to resign without justification," he told reporters in Kota Bharu.
Nik Aziz also said he agreed with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to reject PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the menteri besar post.
"The matter has been informed to us in the Syura Ulama Council. However, we did not disclose this to others as it would be unIslamic to do so.
"I am happy (with the decision) and thank Hadi for bringing this and other issues into the open in order for the public to know that PKR is nothing but a spoiled brat," said the veteran politician and former Kelantan MB.
Nik Aziz was asked to comment on Hadi's remarks at a dialogue with party members at his stronghold in Kampung Rusila, Marang, on Friday.
The spiritual leader also expressed disappointment that PAS was not informed earlier, when PKR decided to ask its Kajang assemblyperson to resign paving the way for the "Kajang move".
The Kajang move saw incumbent Lee Chin Cheh resigning to initially allow Anwar to contest.
However, after Anwar was found guilty of Sodomy II, his wife Wan Azizah contested the seat.
Khalid was reported to have filed a suit against PKR challenging his expulsion from the party.
