Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp), together with 25 employers from Malaysia took part in the Graduan-Masca (Malaysian Students’ Council of Australia) Australia Recruitment Drive 2014 yesterday, which attracted more than 1,400 Malaysian undergraduates in Australia.

Several leading Malaysian employers, including Petronas, Sapura Kencana, Prudential, Ekoworld, EY and Pharmaniaga, interviewed and recruited young Malaysians in Melbourne.

“Corporate leaders engaged with Malaysian students to explain that while starting salaries were higher in Australia, their longer term career prospects were better served working with leading employers of Malaysia,” TalentCorp chief executive officer Johan Mahmood Merican ( right ) told Bernama.

Chris Kelly, Head of Intel Malaysia Design Centre, said Intel had invested in Malaysia since 1972 to build a diverse business encompassing manufacturing, design and shared services.

“Likewise you should invest in building a career in Malaysia given the richness and diversity of opportunities,” he said.

Johan said participating employers were committed to recruiting young Malaysian graduate talent and invest in their future development.

“Like AirAsia X, you must not be satisfied being a ‘jaguhkampung’ (local champion) but be willing to take on the world and succeed as a Malaysian,” Azran Osman Rani, chief executive officer of Air Asia X, told the Malaysian Aspiration Summit 2014 student conference.

The recruitment drive will continue in Sydney tomorrow.
