Two lawyers have lodged police reports against a Facebook user for allegedly posting an offensive comment about Guru Nanak on the Friends of BN fan page.

Gurmukh Singh was reported by the The Star Online to have lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur last night on an offensive comment against Guru Nanak.

"We are a peaceful religion and live in harmony with other races and religions. But that does not give others the permission to put us down," Gurmukh is quoted as saying in the news report.

He said the Facebook user made the objectionable remark on Guru Nanak's hair and turban.

The turban, he said, is a symbol of pride and dignity for the Sikh community.

"We wear our turbans like how kings would wear their crowns," he told the daily after lodging the report, adding that the comment was racist and uncalled for.

"I hope the relevant authorities will take action against the culprit," Gurmukh said.

Another report was also lodged today at an Ipoh police station, led by the secretary general of Malaysian National Sikhs Movement (Gerak Sikh) Amarjit Singh Gill against a Facebook user for belittling the founder of Sikhism.

 
The Ipoh-based lawyer had urged the police to investigate the matter under the Sedition Act and take the necessary action.
 
"Let it be a lesson for others.  Be calm and not act with emotions. Acting irrationally will not solve the problem," added Amarjit.

He urged young Sikhs to keep their emotions in check and allow the authorities to take the action.
