Fugitive sex-blogger Alvin Tan has sarcastically asked whether the attorney-general is going to use the Sedition Act on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

In his Facebook post, Tan, who has jumped bail on a sedition charge, described the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) request to Facebook for removal of his page as “moronic”.

“What if Facebook doesn't want to accede to MCMC's moronic request? Is the attorney-general going to use the Sedition Act on Mark Zuckerberg?” he asked.

Tan is purportedly in the United States and has applied for asylum because he "fears Umno’s political tyranny".

Yesterday, it was reported that MCMC chairperson Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi ( right ), wanted Facebook to remove Tan's page for its “distasteful” and “irresponsible” comments.

“We have made a complaint to Facebook and have requested Facebook to immediately remove the page as we believe it is also against their terms and conditions of service,” said the MCMC chairperson.

Today, Tan and his ex-girlfriend Vivian Lee's sedition case also came up at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court judge Abdul Rashid Daud.

DPP Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin told the court that Tan was “brave” enough to comment against the police and the court.

“Tan must come back to Malaysia - if he is brave - to face the charges and he would not allow or leave his girlfriend (Lee) to face the charge alone,” he said in court.

The case is fixed for further case management at the Sessions Court on Nov 28.

It was previously reported that inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar warned that the police would not leave any stone unturned in finding Tan.

Tan in his immediate response , mocked the IGP by asking if the police chief was as passionate in fighting crime and corruption as he is in catching people for sedition.

The two was charged under the Sedition Act last year following a blog posting 'Selamat Berbuka Puasa with bak kut teh... fragrant, delicious and appetising'.
