Barisan Nasional chairperson Najib Abdul Razak has asked the top leaders of component parties to achieve a strong understanding so that their members would find it easier to follow the decisions of the leaders.

He also took the opportunity to mock Pakatan.

“Pakatan is more unglued than Barisan Nasional,” said Najib after chairing the BN supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

When asked whether there were any disagreements between the grassroots of BN component parties, Najib did not reply but instead asked components to strengthen their cooperation.

“We can ensure that cooperation can be arranged through joint programmes and understanding of the leadership.

“If the leadership shows positive qualities then the grassroots will find it easier to follow what we are doing at the higher levels,” said Najib.

On BN’s preparations for the Sarawak state elections, Najib said BN will discuss all aspects and make the necessary preparations.

On Gerakan which will prepare its list of general election candidates earlier at next year’s annual general meeting, Najib said there was no problem for them to prepare their candidates list earlier.

“We shall prepare candidates earlier as we have not yet determined the most suitable dates.

“In the initial stages we must identify talents before deciding on the candidates,” he said.

He said tonight’s meeting also discussed BN’s successes in several by-elections.

He hoped the successes could be taken as examples for BN to make detailed preparations to face future challenges.

“We need to look at the internal affairs of each party, strengthen our own machinery and show a high level of commitment for BN’s success,” he added.
