There is no reason to fear hudud law if one happens to be a good man, said Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (Macma) Selangor chapter president Sharin Low.

“As a good person, you have nothing to fear. The country also has other laws. Are you not scared of going to jail?

“(The punishment) for rape is caning but people still rape, right? If you were caught (trafficking) drugs you will be sentenced to hang, but people still do it.

“You think cutting off a little bit of finger will make people stop? Therefore, there is nothing to be scared of if you are a good man,” Low told a press conference today after attending a Chinese New Year joint open house organised by several Muslim associations.

Low ( right ) also stressed that hudud law cannot be implemented on non-Muslims, and that it is strictly for Muslims only.

 

“So, I don’t know why some non-Muslims have been very agitated about it. Muslims should be fearing it instead of non-Muslims,” he quipped.

Nevertheless, he opined that Malaysia will not be implementing the hudud law in future, as it is not easy to carry out in practice.

“(There is) no need to worry about hudud because not even Muslims themselves can understand hudud 100 percent.

“I don’t think the country will implement any hudud law because we have multiracial (communities) and our government is also aware of other people's sensitivities,” said Low.
