A PKR lawmaker asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar the justification in probing BFM radio presenter Aisyah Tajuddin under the Penal Code but not Perkasa leader Ibrahim Ali on his threats to burn bibles.

 

Subang MP R Sivarasa said today that Khalid should be consistent in his approach.

 

"Aisyah's case is nowhere near as inflammatory as Ibrahim Ali's," Sivarasa said.

 

Khalid today announced that the police will be investigating Aishyah over the latter's video commentary questioning the implementation of hudud.

 

The government had repeatedly defended Ibrahim's statements in the past, claiming that the controversial Perkasa president was merely defending Islam when he made remarks urging bibles containing the word 'Allah' to be burned prior to the 13th general election.

 

Sivarasa ( right )also described Khalid as someone who got "excited" after discovering social media.

The IGP recently had been ordering and announcing probes on opposition politicians and activists through Twitter.

 

"He should understand that investigations are internal matters, not to be announced publicly on social media," he said.

 

He said that the purpose of Khalid's use of social media was apparent- which was to "threaten and intimidate" people.
