The police is waiting for feedback from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to avoid an overlap of investigation on alleged irregularities involving 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The Home Ministry said in a Parliamentary written reply today said that the police are still pursuing the matter following a police report lodged by Umno member Khairuddin Abu Hassan against 1MDB and its subsidiaries last December.

The case has been classified under Section 409 of the Penal Code, for criminal breach of trust by an agent.

"Given that Khairuddin ( right ) also lodged a report with MACC, the police is now in the process of obtaining feedback from MACC to avoid an overlap," the Ministry said.

The answer was in response to a question by R Sivarasa (PKR-Subang) on the status of the police probe on Khairuddin's police report.

Khairuddin lodged the police report after 1MDB accumulated a debt of RM42 billion and is currently facing cashflow problem.
