DAP has prepared a "resignation letter" for MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, in order for him to resign for "lying" about Putrajaya's stand on the implementation of hudud law.

This tit-for-tat move follows MCA Youth's demand for DAP lawmakers to resign for misleading the public into believing that PAS would drop its theocratic state ambitions.

Thus far, three cabinet ministers - Mustapa Mohamed, Nazri Abdul Aziz and Khairy Jamaluddin - have said that the implementation of hudud law was not discussed by cabinet, contradicting what Liow had claimed before.

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said that this proves that Liow, as the head of a president that represents the Chinese community, had lied.

The "resignation letter", with blank spaces for name and Parliamentary seat, was the same letter that MCA Youth sent to the DAP headquarters two weeks ago.

It is addressed to the Dewan Rakyat speaker. However, the words "carbon copy to DAP chairperson" was crossed out and replaced with "carbon copy to BN chairperson".

MCA had been put on a spot since the Kelantan state assembly passed a bill to amend the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code II 1993, with full support of Umno.

However, MCA has been training its gun on DAP, for misleading non-Muslims into supporting PAS, thereby allowing the latter to revive its once dormant attempt to implement hudud law.

On March 19, Prime Minister and BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak had promised BN component party members during an emergency meeting that he would state his stand on the matter.

Thus far, Najib and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin have kept silent.
