The managing director of a company has been remanded for five days to assist the special task force investigating 1MDB.

According to the MACC, the man is 54-years-old and has links with SRC International Sdn Bhd, a Finance Ministry-owned company that was once part of 1MDB.

"He was arrested at a hotel in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya yesterday evening.

"The remand order was issued by the Putrajaya Magistrate Court," said the MACC in a press release this afternoon.

Earlier reports said the man was a high profile 'Datuk'.

He is the second person to be detained by the special task force investigating allegations of misappropriation by 1MDB.

Yesterday a magistrate’s court in Putrajaya court granted the task force a four-day remand order for a director linked to 1MDB, who was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Money trail

It is understood that both arrests were made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), on behalf of the special task force investigating 1MDB.

The task force comprises officers from the MACC, police, Bank Negara and the Attorney-General's Chambers.

The terms of reference for the task force have not been made clear, but there are indications that it is looking at multiple angles.

This includes allegations by The Wall Street Journal that nearly US$700 million had made its way into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts.

According to WSJ , SRC International was involved in the money trail.
