DAP invites Rahman Dahlan for a dinner date
BN strategic communication director Abdul Rahman Dahlan was today challenged to attend DAP's fundraising dinners to see for himself how the opposition raises money from the public.
"We invite him to come to witness and learn for himself (how DAP's funds are raised)," the party’s MP for Segambut, Lim Lip Eng, said.
"If you want know the sources of the donation and the purpose, please come. But first, as a minister, you have to sponsor RM750 minimum for a table," Lim said.
He intentionally invited Abdul Rahman to the party’s next fundraising event, to be held at the Petaling Jaya Civic Center on Aug 12, to raise funds for Petaling Jaya DAP.
Lim said this when was asked to respond Abdul Rahman's claim that DAP objected to political funding reform for fear it would put the party in disadvantage.
"We never refused to declare our political funding," Lim added.
Stressing further, Lim said the drive for political funding for his parliamentary constituency in the last general election was "in the negative" and he had fork out his own money for the campaign expenses.
PM trusted no one
Recently, Najib, who is Umno president, said he would disclose all political contributions to his party, but only if the opposition did the same .
However, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng Lim maintained that his party had never been approached to reveal its funding details.
Meanwhile, Lim said Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin seems to be in the dark of the RM2.6 billion "donation", which showed Najib trusted no one in this party.
"This is a foolish move to place such huge amount of money in a personal account as this would courted the corruption allegation against the politician," he said.
"This has showed that Najib trusted no one, not his colleague in Umno, not the party treasure, not his his family and brothers.
"Since he has no faith in anyone, why should Umno members and the public trust him ?" he asked.
