Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has given the green light for his members to join the Bersih 4 rally, which among others, demands the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
In the past, Perkasa had been a vocal critic of Bersih rallies, but now Ibrahim pointed out that Parliament has passed the Peaceful Assembly Act.
"It is an individual right whether to assemble or otherwise. Perkasa too has no problems with its members joining the rally," he told a press conference today.
Asked if he agreed with the rally, Ibrahim replied: "As the president of Perkasa, my personal stand is to keep silent with regard to whether I support the rally or not."
Ibrahim is a staunch supporter of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who has repeatedly called for Najib's resignation.
Ibrahim himself has been critical of the Najib administration.
During the Bersih 2 rally in 2011, Perkasa had planned to hold a counter rally but this failed to materialise as it could not book a stadium.
Following this, Ibrahim had asked members to "take a stroll" around Kuala Lumpur.
He had said Perkasa members could help "revitalise" the capital from Bersih 2.0's "terror".
Ibrahim however could not attend due to a court order restricting him from entering the capital.
"I will stay at home because I can't go out.
"My home minister (wife) also doesn't allow me to go out, she will monitor me. If I go out, I won't go to a restricted area," he had said.
