The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is believed to be preparing to send its officers abroad to quiz businessman Jho Low, along with SRC International Sdn Bhd managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Nik Othman Kamil and the firm's director Suboh Mohd Yassin.

This comes after MACC had issued notices to the three on Aug 22 to appear before them to assist the ongoing probe concerning the RM42 million deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s bank accounts.

Sources told Malaysiakini that MACC has made contact with the family members of the three men.

"We have made contact with them and would likely record their statement overseas.

"This would be handled by MACC director of investigations Azam Baki," said a source on condition of anonymity.

Another source claimed that the trio may have safety concerns about returning to Malaysia and therefore MACC would interview them overseas.

Following the issuance of the notices, it is said Jho Low contacted MACC. The business tycoon is said to be in Taiwan.

It was also reported on Aug 26 that MACC had sent notices to families of the three to assist investigations.

Former police special branch deputy director Abdul Hamid Bador last month had alleged there are efforts to hide the main witnesses with regard to the SRC International probe.

Without divulging the name, Abdul Hamid said one of the main witnesses was previously hidden in Indonesia and Thailand, and is now in New Zealand.

"There are efforts to hide the main witnesses. They are those wanted by MACC," he had said.

In July, the Immigration Department had issued a travel ban on Nik Faisal while Suboh was also reported missing.

Nik Faisal's last known address is Alam Impian, Shah Alam while Suboh’s is Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur and Jho Low is from Tanjung Bungah Park, Penang.

Apart from the RM42 million, MACC is also investigating the RM4 billion Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) loan to SRC International.
