Some 20,000 army veterans will be present during the 'red shirts rally' tomorrow to guard against provocation by "DAP Chinese".

Malaysian Army Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Baharom claimed that thousands of ex-army men will gather at undisclosed locations in Kuala Lumpur starting tonight and he said they will spring into action if there are clashes between the "DAP Chinese" and the 'red shirts' tomorrow.

"We support non-violence and no provocation but if it happens, it happens. We will take care of our 300,000 friends. If the DAP Chinese want to do provocation, I will instruct my boys to stand against them. I'm confident the cops alone could not handle the clashes.

"20,000 will arrive tonight. I don't want to hear what the police said. This is our right," he told reporters after a press conference at Jalan Conlay in Kuala Lumpur today.

Mohd Ali, or better known as Ali Tinju (photo), was seen during the Low Yat riot in July giving anti-Chinese speeches before mob clashes in the Bukit Bintang area.

He was then called in by the police and probed under the Sedition Act but with no action to date. He was also involved in infamou 'butt dance' exercise in front of former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan house in 2013.

Meanwhile his cohort, Jamal Mohd Yunos adopted a softer approach, saying the 'red shirts' will adhere to police instructions and even provide 4,000 men for security purposes drawn from 250 NGOs under his wing.

Jamal, Malaysian Malay NGOs Coalition chairperson, claimed tomorrow's rally will see 300,000 people from all across the country gathering at four checkpoints in the city before walking to Padang Merbok in the afternoon.

Route to be set by police

He said although people were condemning him for going ahead with the rally, he insisted that their intentions were pure and good.

"We are good people. Bersih is the one who is racist. They rallied at Masjid India, Sogo, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and then to Dataran. We are not like that. We only want eight things including to defend the Malay leaders," he said.

Asked about the main organiser National Silat Federation (Pesaka) who have a permit to hold the rally Padang Merbok, Jamal said they supported Pesaka right and will let the federation handle the itinerary at Padang Merbok.

Jamal said he himself will lead a crowd which he estimated will be around 80,000 from Jalan Conlay to Padang Merbok which is about a distance of four kilometres.

However, he said he did not know which route will.be taken as this will be determined by the police.

He also revealed an eight-point manifesto for the rally which he said was now named 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu Pertahankan Maruah Melayu'.

"There are eight demands. But it is enough to rally for Malay dignity. We are not enemies with any race but only reminding others to respect each another especially the Malays," he said.
