Faiz: PKR, do you want PAS to betray you again?

PKR should ditch PAS and move on with Pakatan Harapan, Faiz Fadzil, the son of former PAS president Fadzil Noor, said.

Faiz, who is deputy youth chief in newly set up Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), said that PAS is still led by a president that had betrayed PKR multiple times.

As examples, he pointed out the Islamic party had put their own candidates in five constituencies contested by PKR in the last general election.

It had also adversely contributed to the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis last year, and had also refused to acknowledge former Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim ( photo ) as the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat's candidate for prime minister, he said.

"PKR should adhere to the Prophet Muhammad's advice that Muslims are forbidden from getting bitten by a snake twice.

"Is PKR ready to be betrayed by PAS once again? Will PAS guarantee that it will not engage in three-corner fights in places where PKR will contest?

"Will PAS agree to accept Anwar Ibrahim as candidate for prime minister even though they realise they can't nominate someone on par as him?

"Will PAS uphold the agreement to stick to a common policy that will be formulated?" he asked in a statement today.

Amanah was formed after a faction lost heavily to the more conservative faction led by president Abdul Hadi Awang ( photo ), in the PAS election this year.

Amanah leaders, led by former deputy president Mohamad Sabu, formed the NGO Gerakan Harapan Baru before formalising matters by taking over Malaysian Workers' Party and rechristening it 'Amanah'.

Abdul Hadi last month made it clear that PAS will not cooperate with a party that has betrayed Islam , as they are “traitors” and “worse than enemies”.

Hadi, in a video clip posted on PAS’ Facebook on Sept 17, was likely referring to Parti Amanah Negara, although he did not mention names.

Several PKR central committe members have also said the formation of the new opposition pact Pakatan Harapan was too hasty.

The pact consists of PKR, DAP and Amanah.

The PKR central committee members argue that PKR still has a pact with PAS, which has three members in the Selangor exco.

This prompted a central committee meeting today, with a third of the members seeking an explanation from PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail over the matter.

The central committee members also question why the new coalition was announced, without first engaging potential allies like Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) which has one MP.
