PARLIAMENT Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has welcomed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's stance that the Islamic party is willing to work with BN.

This cooperation should be realised for the sake of Islam and the Malays, Tajuddin told the Dewan Rakyat during the question-and-answer session today, in his capacity as deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister.

"We prayed for the cooperation of both parties. What is wrong for us to struggle for the same issues. This is not a deviation from our struggles.

“Who cares about DAP, they are not for Malays," he added.

The BN representative for Pasir Salak also warned that this would be a new political challenge for Pakatan Harapan.

Tajuddin said this as part of his response to an oral question of Idris Ahmad (PAS-Bukit Gantang), who asked about the blue ocean policy for loans given to cattle breeding industry players, to ensure reduction of imports, foster affordable cattle prices, and reduce poverty.

He also thanked Idris for agreeing with the blue ocean policy, which he emphasised was a strategy and policy of the BN government.

New political approach

PAS, which was excluded in the newly formed opposition pact Pakatan Harapan, had announced its new political approach to work with BN.

In a press conference yesterday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the party will meet the government and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on public issues.

"We will work with all parties, including DAP, PKR and others. It is incorrect not to work with BN. But we will work together on good things, not on bad things,” he had said.

"PAS takes measures to 'menerang' (explain), not 'menyerang' (attack)," the MP for Marang added.

However he also declared the Islamic party will not form a unity government with Umno.
