PARLIAMENT The Dewan Rakyat has refused to entertain questions posed by two PKR lawmakers regarding the RM2.6 billion political donation received by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Mansor Othman (PKR-Nibong Tebal) asked regarding the balance of the donation whereas Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (PKR-Bukit Katil) wanted to know to whom the prime minister had returned RM2.03 billion to.

The House rejected these questions on the grounds that questions posted should be confined to the matters related to the minister's post.

This was according to Dewan Rakyat secretary Roosme Hamzah, who wrote to the pair to inform them regarding the rejection.

An upset Shamsul said he posed the question for Parliament’s record as former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin was not aware of the donation.

Meanwhile, four other opposition MPs – Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara), Lim Guan Eng (DAP-Bagan), Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) and Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz (DAP-Raub) – also faced a similar fate.

They four had asked a total of seven questions on 1MDB and the donation.

Both Pua and Guan Eng asked the government about the Swiss attorney-general's probe on the state-owned firm relating to the alleged of misappropriation of US$4 billion.

Pua also asked if attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has investigated the US$170 miilion deposited by Blackstone Asia Real Estate Partners Ltd into Najib's accounts in 2011.

The three questions were rejected as they were based on assumption, said Roosme in a letter given to Guan Eng and Pua.

"A question shall not contain assumptions, views, allegations, compliments or despicable remarks, confusing or hurtful sentences," said Rosme, citing section 23(1) (c) of the Standing Order.

Meanwhile, Lip Eng asked if any donation was given to BN parties, such as MCA, Gerakan and PBB. He also asked if the government had taxed Najib for the donation he received.

Ariff had asked two questions on 1MDB and another question on the donation.

This means the House had thrown out nine questions from the six lawmakers.
