DAP challenges gov’t to host 1MDB forum with Pua, PAC chief

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang today challenged the government to host a televised forum with Public Accounts Committee members and 1MDB representatives, if it truly believes the PAC report exonerates Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Kit Siang said the live televised forum should feature PAC chief Hasan Ariffin and DAP’s PAC representative and Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua.

1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy, and the firm’s former CEO Shahrol Azral Halmi, whom the PAC held responsible for the 1MDB mess, are welcome to join, he said.

This comes after Hasan said the report clears the PM of wrongdoing, and Pua is “annoying” to say Hasan had made things difficult for the PAC to probe 1MDB.

Kit Siang said he is also willing to be part of the forum, while Pua has agreed to the proposal.

“I have read the PAC report on the 1MDB and I do not find any such exoneration of Najib in the report. Are we referring to the same PAC report?” Lim said in a speech at Tasek Gelugor today.

Lim urged the forum to be held next Wednesday in Shah Alam.

“Malaysians would want to know the full and real truth about the first global scandal in the nation’s history,” he said.

He said Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak should also be game since he is “gung-ho"”to televise live a debate between cabinet minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on the Taman Manggis issue.
