Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem has announced that the last three seats in the upcoming state election will go to SUPP and SPDP.

SUPP's Ding Kuong Hing will contest in Meradong whereas SPDP will get the Tasik Biru and Marudi seats.

SPDP's incumbent in Tasik Biru, Peter Nansian Ngusie, has been replaced with Henry Jinep, while Penguang Manggil will be contesting the Marudi seat.

The announcement in Kuching today was made amid complaints from both parties that Adenan had sidelined them in favour of candidates from splinter parties UPP and Teras.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that after naming all 82 BN candidates, Adenan said the ruling coalition is now prepared to face the 11th state election.

"We enter the state election as a united team. We have resolved our differences and we will face the electorate as a united team, or you may call it as Adenan's team.

"We will now turn our guns on the opposition instead of one another," he told a press conference.

Asked why it took a long time to decide on the last three candidates, Adenan said it was because "all contenders are very strong".

"It was difficult to make a decision but finally it has been made," he said, adding that all the BN candidates had received their letters of appointment as candidates and had signed the pledge of loyalty to BN.

Asked whether anyone was unhappy with his selection of candidates, Adenan said that matter had been resolved and would not come up in the election.

Adenan also said that the BN direct candidates would use the 'dacing' (weighing scales) symbol of the coalition.

Meanwhile, Penguang Manggil, the SPDP candidate for Marudi, said he anticipated a challenge and would require the support and cooperation of all machinery.

"I will continue with what I have been doing all this while. We will focus on the grey areas. I feel there will be a challenge from the opposition, and we cannot take that lightly," he said, adding that he was touched by his appointment as a candidate.

Henry Jinep, also of SPDP, who will contest in Tasik Biru, said BN candidates must work hard and establish camaraderie to win the election.

Ding Kuong Hiing of SUPP, who will contest in Meradong, said the people could evaluate his commitment over the past eight years in the constituency.

"We must work hard to gain confidence and create chances to win back this area from the opposition (DAP)," said Ding, who had contested the Sarikei parliamentary seat in the last general election.
