Prime Minister's wife Rosmah Mansor has advised Malaysians to consume more water amid sweltering weather brought about by the El Nino phenomenon.


 "Don't play outdoors for too long or go out for walks too much, particularly children.


 &ldquo;Drink more water and if possible, stay at home or in the office to avoid heat stroke," she told journalists at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, today.


 Earlier, Rosmah, who is the patron for Permata, promoted the early childhood programme's upcoming international conference on May 31.


 To date, Rosmah said some 981 participants from within the country have signed up but she hoped there would be at least 200 international participants.


 "The numbers still fall short but we will work towards increasing the numbers," she said.


 Rosmah said the conference will also have a high-level forum, where first ladies from around the world can make their voices heard.


 She said it can be a platform for the wives of leaders to share their experiences and challenges in conducting programmes for children in their country.


 "We have invited 42 countries but so far, four countries have responded.


 "They will normally only respond two weeks before the programme.


 "However, we are following up with every embassy for an answer as we need to make logistical preparations," she said.


 A total of 15 international speakers and 33 local speakers will be speaking at the conference.
