S'WAK POLLS PKR leaders have expressed differing views over how to move forward in Sarawak as the party is engaged in three-corner fights with ally DAP and rival BN in six constituencies for the May 7 election.

PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin rejected DAP national organising secretary Anthony's suggestion that PKR back down from five constituencies in exchange for DAP to concede in another.

"We will continue on with what we are doing right now," said Zuraida, who is also Ampang MP.

She added that all parties should be gentlemanly in their approach.

However, PKR vice president Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said the party was still open to negotiations.

He cited PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's call for PKR and DAP to continue negotiations despite having nominated their respective candidates in the six constituencies.

"We will discuss, Anwar had also made a clear statement that discussions must continue," he said.

Anwar, who is currently serving a five-year jail sentence in Sungai Buloh prison, managed to comment on the matter after attending a court case at Kuala Lumpur High Court today.

"There is still time for them to try to negotiate, that will be the best," he had said.

DAP claimed that it was supposed to contest in Mulu, Murum, Simanggang, Ngemah and Mambong against BN but PKR fielded their own candidate too, prompting DAP to retaliate by fielding a candidate in Batu Kitang which DAP had earlier conceded to PKR.

PKR countered that negotiations were never finalised and had given ample opportunity for DAP to hammer out a consensus.

Zuraida and Shamsul responded to the issue when asked by reporters outside Petaling Jaya district police headquarters.
They had accompanied Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali who was being investigated under the Sedition Act 1948.
