Fifteen activists were today found guilty of rioting and taking part in an illegal assembly in front of the Parliament gates in June 2013.

They include Anne Ooi, better known as Auntie Bersih, who was found guilty of breaching Section 143 of the Penal Code for illegal assembly in the Black 505 demonstration against the 13th general election results.

Ten of them, including PKR member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, and activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim, were found guilty of two charges of illegal assembly and rioting.

Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court judge Abdul Rashid Daud sentenced those guilty of the illegal assembly to RM2,000 fine and those guilty of rioting to RM4,000 fine.

Abdul Rashid said those found guilty of illegal assembly can be jailed for three months if they fail to pay the fine, while those found guilty for rioting can be jailed for six months if the fine is not paid.

Suhaimi Ibrahim acted for the prosecution while the 15 were represented by Haijan Omar, Radzlan Jalaludin and G Sivamalar.

Haijan and Radzlan said their clients will appeal the matter.

Those guilty of illegal assembly are:

  • Muhamad Aiman Hakim Zainal Arifin;
  • Mah Chee Hoe;
  • Tong Chan Sang;
  • Abdullah Hassan; and
  • Annie Ooi.

Those guilty of illegal assembly and rioting are:

  • Norazimah Mohamad Nor;
  • Ahmad Shauqie Abdul Aziz;
  • Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razab;
  • Lim Sue Pei;
  • Muhammad Safwan Anang;
  • Edy Nor Reduan;
  • Md Sani Md Shah;
  • Badrul Hisham Shaharin;
  • Adam Adli Abdul Halim; and
  • Ekhsan Bukharee Badarul Hisham.
