SG BESAR POLLS Lim Kit Siang has pointed the finger at PAS over a banner that claims former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a DAP minion.

The DAP veteran said the banner, which reads 'Mahathir Balaci DAP' was strung up in Sekinchan last night, but was nowhere to be found this morning.

Speaking to reporters during a walkabout in Sekinchan, Lim said he suspected PAS was behind the banner because its president Abdul Hadi Awang once accused Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) of being a DAP tool.

"Perhaps PAS feels that Mahathir will come," he said, urging PAS to cease indulging in "dirty politics".

On the same note, Lim challenged Umno to deny its involvement with the banner.

The DAP leader also called on all parties to practise clean politics and not indulge in slander, especially in the month of Ramadan.

"Yesterday, we went to the Umno-BN camp (during nomination) and chatted with (Deputy Prime Minister) Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and (PAS secretary-general) Mustafa Ali.

"Although there are political misunderstandings (between us), it never reached a stage of hatred until it brings about disturbances," he said.

Lim reminded PAS that when the Islamic party was part of the opposition coalition, there were those who claimed Hadi was being used by him.

"Then they claimed I am using the Amanah candidate, and now that I am using Mahathir.

"This is baseless. I have never used Hadi, Mahathir or the Amanah candidate," said Lim, the MP for Gelang Patah.
