Umno Youth cannot be blamed for leading a protest outside the DAP headquarters, according to Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri.

He said that its action was aimed at defending the dignity of the Malays in view of a controversial Facebook posting linked to DAP lawmaker Nga Kor Ming.

“Yesterday’s protest was an example of the reaction to Nga.

“So we cannot blame Umno Youth because it is its duty to defend the integrity and dignity of the Malays who felt insulted (by the posting).

“I, too, would be insulted if someone says out children ate ‘dedak’ (animal feed).

“Dedak is food for chickens and ducks, so when our children who accept duit raya are equated to chickens and ducks, we would definitely be angry,” he told reporters in Putrajaya.

Nga landed in the limelight over two Hari Raya greeting postings - one using an American flag and the other featuring a cartoon depicting children asking for 'donation' or 'dedak' instead of ‘duit raya’.

The American flag greeting was posted on the MP’s Facebook fanpage, which Nga claimed is not authorised. It was reported that the cartoon was also posted on the page, but it cannot be established as the page has since been deactivated.
