DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng has lodged two reports with the Enforcement Agencies Integrity Commission (EAIC) over suspicion of police collusion in a dispute concerning the ownership of a Lamborghini recovered after an alleged car heist.

“I told the EAIC, I suspect some of the police officers are on the take, I want them to be investigated,” he said during a press conference in Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur, this morning.

Lim said the police should have returned the car to its owner but they did not.

“The police's conduct and behaviour are utterly nonsense. You found the car, you return the car, why do you keep the car?” he asked.

However, Serdang police chief Tuan Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias denied the accusation.

“There is no hanky-panky,” he told Malaysiakini via WhatsApp message today.

“The investigation is complete. Papers are submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further instruction,” said the district police chief.

Lim said that a Lamborghini car driver had lodged a police report after two parang-wielding men took the vehicle from him on July 26.

“Two days later, police told the press that they found the car, they arrested two Indian (men) and one 'Datuk'. But until now the police refused to return the car to him (the owner),” he said.

Lim said there are three parties claiming ownership of the car.

"First is the unnamed 'Datuk', the second is the driver, and another third party,” he added.

According to Lim, the driver said the Lamborghini belonged to his cousin. The MP also showed the car's registration in the first press conference over the matter weeks ago.

“The police suspected that the driver lodged a fake police report. Police also said he is now being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for giving false information, as reported in Sin Chew Daily and Oriental Daily."

Lim said the accusation had caused a lot of trouble for the driver.

"The driver's business partner wanted him to dissolve their partnership, and those in his hometown accused him of stealing the car.

“The driver wants the police to clarify and to make a retraction on the accusation, and apologise,” said the MP.
