Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos today filed a suit against the Selangor government wanting to stop the local council of Sabak Bernam from demolishing his resort.

He filed the suit on behalf of his company, Jamal Jaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, where he is the managing director, that owned the Sekin Fisherman Village Hotel and Resort, at Sekinchan.

The suit was filed at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court where Jamal named the Sabak Bernam district council, the Sabak Bernam district office and the Selangor government as defendants.

Jamal told reporters the PKR-led Selangor government by Azmin Ali had acted against him a day after his protest on behalf of the people's interests following the water woes by sealing and demolishing part of his 100-room resort which had been in operation for five years

As a result of this, he is seeking an injunction to stop the defendants from demolishing the premises and another injunction order to prevent them from stopping its operations.

He is also seeking RM140,000 damages following the disturbance caused by the authorities and damages for the demolition.

Jamal in his legal suit claimed the action by the local council and district office was an abuse of power and therefore did not follow the law.

He told reporters that he had submitted seven applications to the local council and district office to have the resort approved and that the action against him was as a result of him holding the protest over water woes at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah building on Dec 22.

“It is not possible that my architects and engineers who helped build the resort are at fault as they also have other projects in Selangor,” he said,

He believed that the protest had resulted in the Azmin-led government to retaliate and take the action on Dec 23.

The Sungai Besar Umno division leader, who is also the red-shirts leader, also said that the authorities acted on the instructions of the Selangor MB as there were many illegal structures in the district but no action had been taken against them.

Jamal said the selective action was an indication that the action against him was politically motivated as he was one of the vocal leaders in Umno and BN, which was the opposition in the state.
