PAS will be forcing three-cornered fights in the next general election if it continues to threaten PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) against cooperating with Amanah.

Amanah information chief Khalid Samad said this in response to the statement from PAS vice-president Iskandar Samad yesterday that failure to negotiate with PAS would lead to dire consequences for all opposition parties.

"Amanah takes note of Iskandar's view that if Amanah wants to replace PAS, it needs to contest directly against PAS and not put up its allies PKR or Bersatu.

"Amanah agrees that PKR and Bersatu are not dragged in the competition between PAS and Amanah.

"As such, we suggest that PAS stops threatening PKR and Bersatu that PAS will contest against them if the two parties continue to co-operate with Amanah," Khalid said in a statement.

He added that Amanah is prepared to face three-cornered fights against PAS and BN if PAS continued to sow discord among Pakatan Harapan parties and its allies.

Iskandar said on Monday that PAS was willing to respect agreements to ensure straight fights against BN in the 14th general election.

However, he added, PAS would not stand down if Amanah contests in seats that PAS had previously contested in or won.
