Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds buried in Los Angeles

Hollywood actresses Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher were buried in a Los Angeles cemetery yesterday in a private service.

The ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills was attended by family and friends including Fisher’s brother Todd and her daughter Billie Lourd, according to US media reports.

Fisher, who shot to fame around the world as Princess Leia in ‘Star Wars’ (1977), died aged 60 on Dec 27 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Her mother, the Oscar-nominated actress Debbie Reynolds, died just a day later at the age of 84 following a suspected stroke. She was best known for her roles in ‘Singin' in the rain’ (1952) and ‘The Unsinkable Molly Brown’ (1964).

According to People magazine, Reynolds was buried with some of her daughter’s ashes.

Fisher was cremated earlier this week according to ET online, which also said a public memorial for both actresses was planned in the near future, though the details had not yet been finalised.

Family and friends including Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan and Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly turned out for a memorial service on Thursday at Fisher’s home in Beverly Hills. Reynolds lived on the same compound as Fisher.
