The next Bersih rally should include financial scandals during Dr Mahathir Mohamad's-era as part of its agenda, said Umno Grassroots Movement (Gaum) president Zulkarnain Mahdar.

Zulkarnain said he would write to Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah and her predecessor Ambiga Sreenevasan urging them to do so.

"(The scandals) involve the people's money, and it is not a small sum. We want justice.

"Don't speak about justice, but when it hits your own face, you don't want to (fight for justice)," he told reporters when met in Putrajaya today.

Last November, Mahathir participated in the Bersih 5 rally, which called for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's resignation over the 1MDB controversy, among other issues.

Zulkarnain was speaking to reporters after lodging a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, urging them to probe Mahathir over Bank Negara's RM10 billion losses suffered in the forex market in the early 1990s.

Former Bank Negara assistant governor Abdul Murad Khalid last week claimed there were no investigations on the matter.

Kit Siang should demand RCI, again

Meanwhile, Zulkarnain also urged DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang to revive his call for a royal commission of inquiry to probe the forex scandal.

"It was Lim who first raised the scandal, not BN," he said, referring to the Gelang Patah MP's history of being critical against Mahathir.

The GAUM president said he would lodge a police report over the matter.

Earlier, Zulkarnain had also lodged a MACC report against Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal over alleged corruption when the latter was the rural and regional development minister.

Zulkarnain alleged that Shafie had abused his position to grant projects to a close associate.
