Najib: Saudi oil price up by 50pct, but M'sians fuss over 20sen hike

Saudi Arabia, an oil-rich country, increased its oil price by 50 percent, yet Malaysians are complaining over 20 sen hikes, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said.

"I want to tell you, the oil price in Saudi Arabia increased by 50 percent.

"Here, we make a fuss over an increase of 10 sen to 20 sen," he told new homeowners of Residensi Kerinchi, an new apartment block for those who were relocated from the now demolished Kerinchi flats in Kuala Lumpur.

Najib's Facebook page was earlier this month inundated with "20 sen" comments after the retail price for RON95 increased by 20 sen to RM2.30 per litre.

Saudi Arabia in 2016 increased the per litre retail price for RON95 from 0.6 riyals (71sen) to 0.9 riyals (RM1.07), a 50 percent hike.
