The kidnapping of pastor Raymond Koh is on the government's radar and Putrajaya has sent a minister to meet his family, says MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong.

"The cabinet discussed the disappearance case and arranged for Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Kurup to meet with the missing pastor's family.

"The government empathises with the anxiety experienced by the pastor's family. This incident is of deep concern to the government and the public.

"The police have been instructed to investigate this case thoroughly and quickly to locate the whereabouts of pastor Koh," Wee (photo) said in a statement today.

Yesterday, it was reported that the family of the abducted pastor have been reassured that the case is a priority, following meetings with the minister and the police.

Wee said MCA was "gravely concerned" about the abduction of the pastor and had also raised this with inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.

"Khalid assured us that PDRM has made this case a top priority," he said.

Wee said MCA also supported the appeal by pastor Koh's family to give police space to conduct their investigation and not to disseminate speculative and unconfirmed rumours.

"To post or announce unconfirmed messages or rumours may cause greater confusion and difficulties to the investigation.

"In any case, the government will not give up on the search, nor will it relinquish the responsibilities of the authorities to find answer for the sake of pastor Koh’s family," he said.

Pastor Raymond Koh was abducted in Petaling Jaya on Feb 13 in what appeared to be a swift, well-executed operation.
