DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has fired back at Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Dzulkifli Ahmad, saying all eyes were on the graft-buster, on whether he would lead a clean commission.

In particular, Lim said the people are judging Dzulkifli's stance on the 1MDB scandal.

"Dzulkifli should realise that if he acts as the traditional three monkeys – with eyes that see not, ears that hear not, and a mouth that speaks not – about the 1MDB scandal, he will be making the MACC into the first 'kleptocratic' anti-corruption agency in the world," Lim said in a statement today.

He was responding to the MACC chief, who yesterday said, the people were watching and judging the DAP veteran's commitment and seriousness to fight corruption.

Lim said he has already placed himself to be judged by the people ever since he joined politics 52 years ago.

The MACC was one of the several agencies that looked into the 1MDB scandal.

Its purview was the RM2.6 billion donation scandal, as well as allegations that funds from 1MDB subsidiary SRC International had been transferred to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal accounts.

On the RM2.6 billion case, attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali had closed the case, saying the money came from a royal Arab donor, and that Najib had committed no wrongdoing.

Lim and other critics, however, dispute this, citing the US Department of Justice's (DOJ) civil forfeiture suits which claim that the donation was actually misappropriated 1MDB funds.

"Has Dzulkifli read these (allegations) in the US DOJ litigation on the 1MDB-linked assets, and why has he not acted to re-open investigations into the 1MDB scandal in pursuance of the 251-page 957-paragraph US DOJ kleptocratic litigation on 1MDB?" Lim asked.

As for the SRC case, a New Straits Times report cited Dzulkifli as saying the MACC is in the midst of wrapping up its investigation papers.
