Johor hints at big bonus over RM1.5k for civil servants

Johor state secretary Azmi Rohani said Johor civil servants can expect a bonus over RM1,500.

"The bonus for Johor civil servants is better than what the federal government has announced. This is a tribute to all Johor civil servants," Azmi told reporters after the National Transformation 2050 Dialogue attended by chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa and 2,700 civil servants at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios today.

The actual amount of the bonus will be announced by Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin when he tables the Johor Budget 2018 at the State Legislative Assembly on Nov 23.

Azmi said there are 16,612 Johor civil servants and 121,335 federal civil servants in the state.

When tabling Budget 2018 on October 27, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced a bonus of RM1,500 for federal civil servants.

The payment would be made two times, RM1,000 in early January 2018 and another RM500 before Aidilfitri celebration (first half of June).

Government retirees would receive RM750 to be paid two times, RM500 in January 2018, and another RM250 before Aidilfitri celebration.
