Shuttlers suspected of match-fixing not under BAM

Two national badminton professional players are being investigated by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for suspected involvement in a match-fixing scandal.

A Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) source who confirmed the matter today said they were being investigated as they attempted to get several foreign players involved in the scam.

"BWF informed BAM that the two players are not under us, and we do not know the facts of the case, as it is still being investigated by BWF.

“At the moment, BAM is not aware of the actual case and we do not want to make any assumptions as BWF is conducting its own internal investigations,” the source said when contacted by Bernama today.

The source said BAM would not compromise with any national badminton players if they were involved in match-fixing, and they would face stern actions including being suspended for life.

Today, the MACC deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed receiving a report and was verifying the allegation that a professional player was investigated by BWF for match-fixing.
